Special election schedule announced for Sue Schmitz’ state house seat
MONTGOMERY — Gov. Bob Riley today announced the special election schedule for Alabama House District 6, which was vacated by the Feb. 24 felony conviction of Rep. Sue Schmitz, D-Toney.
The deadline for candidates to qualify with the Democratic and Republican parties will be April 2 and the party primaries will be May 26.
If a runoff is needed, it will be July 14 and the general election would be Sept. 1. If no runoff is necessary, the general election will be July 14.
