Long Lines In Alabama

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Alabama voters began lining up to cast their vote in the 2008 election — and in some places the line is quite long.

Before the polls even opened, the line at Monrovia Church stretched around three sides of the building.

The same held true for Willowbrook Baptist Church. The line starting forming at 6 a.m. and by 7 a.m. there were more than 400 people in line.

Alabama officials are expecting record turnout in this election.

Roughly 900 election workers were on hand to greet voters today – about 200 more than in the last presidential election.

Anyone still in line when the polls close at 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot.
