Griffith Wins Police Support
Democrat Parker Griffith this week won the support of Alabama’s police organization, while Republican Wayne Parker announced a pair of endorsements from national business groups.
Griiffith and Parker both seek to replace U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer, D-Huntsville, as the representative of North Alabama’s 5th Congressional District.
Griffith, a retired oncologist and state senator, received the endorsement from Alabama’s 8,700-member Fraternal Order of Police. Griffith made the announcement Friday in downtown Huntsville, ringed by law officers from across North Alabama.
Parker, an insurance agent who twice ran against Cramer in the 1990s, announced in Muscle Shoals on Wednesday that he received the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which represents 3 million businesses nationwide.
Parker also received the endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, which represents small businesses across the country.
